Jobs NGO Database is a unique resource that allows non-profit organizations look for volunteers, interns, and employees, partner organizations in Russia and abroad in a more effective, targeted and simple way. Jobs NGO Database is a structured tool that provides candidates with the access to the information about NGO vacancies, projects and of course non-profit organizations.

1. What is Jobs NGO Database?

Jobs NGO Database - is a tool for communication of non-profit organizations and everyone who is interested in third sector activities.

2. What was Jobs NGO Database developed for?

In Russia today we do not have a structured resource that would allow non-profit organizations publish information about their vacancies. Usually vacancies are uploaded at NGOs' web sites, sent out through list serves and among dear fiends of these NGOs. For a candidate, volunteer, or an intern to find this information, they should spend lots of time and effort looking for NGOs and their web sites, checking through vacancies here and there; or they should be well acquainted with friends of many NGOs or be in their list serves. Jobs NGO Database was developed to ease the process of spreading and finding the vacancy information in non-profit organizations.

3. Who can take part in Jobs NGO Database?

Jobs NGO Database is of interest to anyone and offers advantages to different groups: students, volunteers, NGO representatives, youth movement and non-profits themselves.

4. What are the mechanisms of updating Jobs NGO Database?

NGO School Foundation and Polish Center "Theotokos" provide Jobs NGO Database with technical and informational support in Russia, Poland and other countries. We rely on the proven network of 700 friendly non-profits, 200 volunteer and student organizations, youth organizations and university representatives.

5. What does Jobs NGO Database consist of?

Jobs NGO Database consists of a number of Modules: Jobs, CVs, Contacts, Organizations, Projects, and Documents. Every Module listed above is of interest to a non-profit organization or anyone willing to work, volunteer, intern or know better about the third sector.

6. What is the Module «Jobs»?

The Module «Jobs» allows non-profit organizations to publish information about vacancies, volunteer and internship opportunities that they can offer. Candidates should check the information published, choose work, volunteer and internship opportunities of interest and contact the representative of the organization with the cover letter and the resume.

7. What is the Module «CVs»?

The Module «CVs» allows candidates to publish their resumes in order to apply for work, volunteer and internship openings. Non-profit organizations' representatives should look through the resumes and contact the candidates they believe could contribute to the organization's work.

8. What is the Module «Contacts»?

We strongly believe that there is nothing more important than people. The Module «Contacts» contains information about people. This is your «address book» that will help you to contact the organization of choice and avoid the greeting «Dear Colleagues» and «Dear Sir/Madam»; this Module will help you to speak to a person when calling an organization and not to somebody who can possibly know the answer to your question.

9. What is the Module «Organizations»?

The Module «Organizations» provides information on non-profit organizations registered in Jobs NGO Database. Candidates and representatives of partner organizations at the page of your organization can access the following information: website address, regions of your operation and activities, your projects, contact information and vacancies that your offer.

10. What is the Module «Projects»?

The Module «Projects» is an additional opportunity for your organization to promote your projects, find volunteers and participants in the projects regions, and establish partner relations with other non-profits while implementing projects.

11. What is the Module «Documents»?

The Module «Documents» contains guidelines and recommendations on how to publish information about organizations, vacancies, resumes and contacts. In addition to that, the Module will be updated with the tips on different issues of working in a non-profit organization. These tips will be of interest to candidates (for examples, how to write a cover letter and what you should study before coming to an interview). These tips will also provide the non-profits with the recommendations on the following: how to write an effective job description, what the difference is between creating a position description for volunteer, intern and job candidates.

12. How can you access the information in Jobs NGO Database?

When you decide that it is the right time for you to make the full use of Jobs NGO Database you should register. The registration process is free of charge and quite easy. You register yourself as a user and then you can add and publish vacancies, resumes, information about organizations and projects; access full information for each of the entries and the Modules; take part in the project «Third Sector without Borders».

13. How do we solve the issue of confidentiality of the information in Jobs NGO Database?

Jobs NGO Database contains information about organizations, people, vacancies and projects.

This information was partially gathered at the web sites of different non-profit organizations and structured.

The information about candidates, volunteers, interns and their resumes was published by them personally and for most is not available to the unregistered users.

Only registered users can get the full access to the information in Jobs NGO database.

14. What options does an unregistered user have in Jobs NGO Database?

An unregistered user can get a limited access to the information in Jobs NGO Database. Despite the fact that the access to the information is limited, you nevertheless can make a well-rounded decision whether you need to register within Jobs NGO Database. Look through the information available and if you find something of interest: a vacancy, a project, an organization, that would be the time for you to register within the Database to get the full access to the information.

15. Why is some information marked "Not Available"?

Some pieces of information in Jobs NGO Database are marked "Not Available", for example contact information, salary rates, resume information, E-mail addresses. If the information is not available this means that you are not logged into the Jobs NGO Database. To log in you need to register in the Database once and then using your login and password get access to the information.

16. What is «Third Sector without Borders»?

«Third Sector without Borders» is a project that Jobs NGO Database was created within. The project is implemented by NGO School Foundation, Polish Center «Theotokos» in 2008-2010 with the financial support from the European Union.
